Taiwan - Day 9

Day 9 marks the end of our adventures & we'll be on the plane back to SG tml,
but our tourists' spirit will keep us going no matter what~!!
BTW, we are heading towards a museum at Gold Ecological Park
& it just so happen that Nengyi & me that we wore same colour combination;
must be our twin telepathy power in the works hahah =)

Option 1: take this bus at RuiFang Station & alight at where my finger is pointing;
a gentle reminder, you'll need to queue for this bus & plz queue in the right direction~~
this happened to me: there were 2 groups of tourists queuing, 1 infront & 1 behind us;
imagine how frustrating it is to queue 30 mins, another group of tourists cut your queue,
leaving your group stranding outside the closed door of the bus & expect everything to be fine...
DREAM ONNNN!!! a fight might break out anytime coz of these inconsiderate actions

Option 2: book a car or cab for the day for SGD $80 - $100
*later part of the day, we actually booked a cab for the rest of the trip
& it is really more worth it considering that we had such a big group*

halfway, you will pass by JiuFen, but we're not alighting just yet
coz we're gona set it as our last location of the day

after a crazy Initial D bus ride, we've reached our destination
Gold Ecological Park, but dont expect to be on an expedition to find GOLD

we went on a short mining tour & they provide us with this filter that opens up into a bowl;
some of us thought we are actually gona dig out some soil & find at least some gold bits,
but it turns out to be just a sterilization cap before we wear our helmets.

when we were inside, we experienced earthquake!!!
nah, just the camera shaking & me imagining too much hahaha

the rest of the Gold Ecological Park is mostly free for entry,
but I wont say this place has many places to go

Gold museum entrance welcomes you with a wall of Gold,
but you wont be able to touch it coz grumpy security guard will stop you!!

the "treasure" is this piece of gold that weighs 220.3kg
& it will be equivalent to almost 10 million USD...
However, what are the chances that it is the real thing??
there isn't any security guard here & they even let visitors touch it.
we had a joke that we form a team just like Ocean's Twelve
allocate job scope to get this chunk of gold out in the fastest way possible

we actually climbed the mountains beyond the Gold Ecological Park

with another 15-20 mins of hiking, we were pretty high up into the mountains

take a break before heading back down

we had our lunch at a Jap restaurant near the entrance
nothing fancy, but just Cha Soba to fill my stomach

instead of taking bus, we started walking to Golden Waterfall thinking that it is nearby.
however, the sun was blazing hot & we've no idea exactly how far it is.
we were not planning to walk all the way back to take bus & there is no bus stop here.

taking shelter under a pavilion, we came across a couple feeding stray cats.
at this point, we were banging our hopes on a cab or any bus that allow us to hop on.
however, most cabs were occupied & the empty ones demanded roughly around NT$3000.
normal cabs could only sit 4 passenger & we'll need 2 cabs amounting to NT$6000.
that deal was too much to take as our wallets were all pretty dried up.
then there was this cab that was able to sit all 7 of us & was going for NT$2500.
we took that offer straight away, given that we were running short on time.
going to Golden Waterfall & BiTou Cape for (NT$2500 / 7) sounds like a great deal

we're on our way once again & appreciating the wonders of air-con blasting in our faces.
I was relief that we didnt continue walking all the way down as it was pretty far.
anyway, this is just the start of the Golden Waterfall
& the stunning view is where the yellowish water meets with seawater

I was also amazed to find a couple taking their wedding photoshoot
either I cant open my eyes or I will melt in this kinda weather haha~~

"Gold" on its way into the sea

& our cab driver is talented in his own ways with the camera

magnificent view, isnt it??
take me back to Taiwan this instant, can???

BiTou Cape, wait for us~~ we're almost reaching you~!!

Guess what!?!? the driver overshot coz he didnt see the road sign hahaha
he was ramming the accelerator & we will reach HuaLien in no time if we didnt tell him

thinking back, we actually got the most out of the deal coz he let us stop by alot of places.
this is sorta like an abandon fish farm, but it is still occupied by fisherman

 I think he is just drying seaweed??

me - Explorer's silhouette

here's our tour guide of the day, Mr. Toh TienBoon
without him, my trip would've been almost impossible in such a short duration

I cant express how cool it is to have a school in the mountains with full view of the ocean.
of coz it would be a drag in the long run considering the efforts to get to school

as you can see, it was all uphill climbing & this reminds me of army outfield exercise;
if only there were stairs, it would be so much easier to climb those knolls haha

the view

the school

school + view

carry on climbing /  hiking

sad to say, the lighthouse was in repair works & we can only go BiTou Cape

final stretch of hiking

warning: please be careful, danger of falling off cliff

1st ever attempt @ #YOLO shot

TienBoon + XueMing + NengYi

last stop, we go back to JiuFen in search of souvenirs

although I didnt manage to find any souvenirs, I found an interesting character!!
she simply sells Taiwan Sausages, but she is friendly & poses for every camera

the sun is setting, but it is also the start of last minute shopping...
the 7 of us went back to our hotels to have a quick shower, exchanged more NT currency
& had our last burst of fire where we spend all we had on clothes, food, etc
hahaha I was buying so much, but I just couldn't resist shopping~~~
